As James Gunn works on the script, it seems like Marvel is starting to put the wheels in motion for the next Guardians movie. But is that happening with one of their television programs?

The 'Guardians' Team Is Not Concrete As Director Says Some Members Could Be Gone Soon

Entertainment Weekly sat down with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. show runners Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen on Tuesday to discuss the revelation that the alien character who saved Agent Coulson's life way back when was revealed to be a Kree. This alien race is what Ronan the Accuser from Guardians of the Galaxy is.

As for that revelation and possible tie-ins with the sequel, Whedon and Tancharoen were mum, but did hint that there could be some future with the development.

'Guardians 2' Director Very Clear That The Movie Will Not Have This Fan-Favorite Character

"There's more to explore with the Kree," Tancharoen said. "It is a very far away other galaxy, so it's a little bit harder to have one of them walk into our set, so a direct tie-in is a little bit more challenging, but it's all one universe, so there's always opportunity for more," Whedon added.

It is clear that the Kree will be influential moving forward as they were the race that signed a peace treaty with the Nova Corps that was broken by Ronan and could also factor into the future Marvel movie, Inhumans.

As for the future with Guardians, it could signal some small hints as to what the Kree mean to Earth and whether that will play a part in Star-Lord's (Chris Pratt) past and the search for his father.
