Actor Jeremy Irons recently teased a few details about his upcoming role as lovable butler Alfred Pennyworth in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Christian Bale Reveals Whether He Was Approached to Play Batman Before Ben Affleck

Irons appeared at the Marrakech Fest this week and revealed that his Alfred will be slightly different from Christopher Nolan's version of the butler, played by Michael Caine.

He said that his Alfred is "not a large role" considering the amount of major characters in the film, but he added: "He is quite a different Alfred than we have seen so far. [Director] Zack Snyder had very clear views about what he wanted. I would just say he's more hands-on perhaps than just a butler."

It's possible that Irons' version of Alfred will be similar to the character on Fox's Gotham, played by Sean Pertwee. The Alfred portrayed in Gotham is much more spry and agile than the ones depicted in any of the Batman films, though this is likely because he is much younger in the show.

Irons said that working on Batman v Superman is actually "not that different than Die Hard" referencing his villain role in Die Hard With a Vengeance in 1995.

Irons is just one member of the all star cast that comprises Batman v Superman. Other stars include Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White and Diane Lane as Martha Kent.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is scheduled for release in theaters on March 25, 2016.
