As more and more information on the Sony hack and Spider-Man flood out, one small idea that the studio posed could mean a homecoming of sorts for the series. But could bringing Sam Raimi back as a director or producer help bring the franchise back to prominence?

Spider-Man Deal Between Sony & Marvel Not Dead As Hero Could Still Join The Avengers

IGN posted a video on Wednesday discussing the move that Sony could've made by bringing back Raimi and whether or not it was a good idea.

Both of the panelists on the video agreed that it would be a bad move by Sony to bring Raimi back as they cite the timing as bad. At this point, Sony is working on spin-offs of the world created by new director Marc Webb with multiple villains and Venom appearing, which was a problem for Raimi before.

Instead of going into his own world, he would be entering this universe that Webb created and it may not mesh as well as many would think it could.

It seems like a logical reason to not want Raimi involved. The director struggled with Spider-Man 3 because of too many hands being in the pot at one time and his lack of control on the characters that would be entering the movie for him.

While Raimi may not work now, there is still the possibility of a brand-new series taking form at Marvel under a proposed deal that could be happening soon. While that studio may want to look a different direction, it also could give Raimi the opportunity to re-create the Spider-Man world that he wants and start again with the franchise.
