Johnny Manziel got his first professional start Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals, but it ended horribly for the rookie.

Johnny Manziel Addresses 'Midget' Remark From Cincinnati Bengals Coach Marvin Lewis

Last Tuesday afternoon, USA Today reported that Manziel got the go ahead to be the starting quarterback for Sunday's game. Manziel replaced Brian Hoyer as the Cleveland Browns starting quarterback.

When the announcement was made, Coach Mike Pettine had good things to say about Manziel. "Johnny has worked very hard to earn this opportunity and it will be very important for every member of the offense to elevate their play for us to obtain our desired result," Pettine said.

That tune changed quickly once the Browns lost to the Bengals with a final score of 30-0 and a poor overall performance from Manziel.

NFL's website reported Sunday after the game that Manziel summed up his horrible first start as, "Tough. Just tough."

Manziel stated, "I'm not using the rookie excuse. It's not me. Yeah, I'm a rookie but that's out the window. I needed to play better.

"I felt coming into today that I was absolutely prepared for today. Being out there, I never felt overwhelmed or that it was too much for me, but when it comes down to it, football is football. You need to make more plays than the other team and you need to play better than the other team and today I didn't do that," he added.

Coach Pettine said, "[Manziel] didn't play well. Looked like a rookie, played like a rookie," as reported by ESPN's website.

Manziel was sacked three times during the game and intercepted twice. He went 10-of-18 for 80 yards and had Bengals players mocking his signature money sign.
