Luke Hemmings told Mathison the book "is a crash course test in 5SOS."

Ashton Irwin claimed, "There's a lot of embarrassing pictures in there of us when we were-Cause we started this band when we were in-We're kind of still in it-Super awkward, prepubescent state."

Hemmings then said that getting personal with the fans "has kind of been our thing from day one."

He stated they always tell their fans on Twitter and wherever else what they're up to.

He said, "I think fans really respond to that" since they're being so open and honest with them.

The band also stated in the caption section of the behind-the-scenes video of the book's cover shoot: "It really does only seem like yesterday we were playing our first ever gig to twelve people at Sydney's Annandale Hotel back in 2011. Since then we've been given the opportunity to pursue our dreams and one day turn into the people and musicians we've always wanted to be."

They went on to thank their fans. "So this book is like a thank you from us to you guys. We want everyone to know our story so far..."
