Covert Affairs aired its season 5 finale on Thursday, and with the end of the season comes speculation of the next.

Annie May Kill Belenko In 'Covert Affairs' Finale?

When the season finale featured a marriage proposal, a new job offer and an opportunity to travel the world, viewers couldn't wait any longer to hear what would happen next.

TVLine interviewed executive producers Matt Corman and Chris Ord on Thursday to get some answers.

Corman told TVLine that Annie is considering Ryan's marriage proposal along with if she will stay in the agency.

"She's considering whether to stay in the agency. She's considering what to do about her heart, if anything. So she's got a lot to think about," he said.

When prodded to talk about the seriousness between Annie and Ryan, especially since she's ever only been so serious with Auggie, they agreed that was so.

"One has to be ready for relationships in life and then they can present themselves. She, through her experiences, changed as a person and is sort of questioning some of the things she held true. She also, though, has this history with guys that hasn't ended well...Basically, everybody she's dated has been shot, and several of those guys have died," Corman said.

Of course, this led to another burning question that fans have: Have Annie and Auggie finally moved on from each other in a romantic sense?

"For now, they have. But there's always a kinship there. There's always a closeness there...Right now, they're definitely on different trajectories. But it would be wrong to say that they've transcended the power of that relationship," Corman said.

Corman also reported that they don't know when the show will find out if they've been renewed for a sixth season. And if this is the end for the show, would the producers be happy with how season 5 left things?

"No, we wouldn't be happy. We want the show to continue. We're very proud of this finale. So at least we feel if we didn't come back, we'd be going out on a high note. We don't really like to think about it in those terms," Ord said.
