The actress, 58, explained on her Facebook page that she was prescribed Augmentin along with a steroid, both of which are commonly used to cure a sinus infection. Scott, however, began to suffer severe hallucinations that were getting progressively worse. Eventually, her husband Edward called her doctor and he suggested that she stop taking the antibiotics.

“I was very happy with that, but in retrospect, I should have stopped taking them sooner,” wrote Scott who has played Nikki Newman on the soap opera since 1981.

Despite stopping the medication, Scott's body continued to break down and so she decided to go to the emergency room. While at the hospital, Scott said she couldn’t even communicate with doctors and was tested for every possible health condition.

“The day slowly dragged on, with me not knowing what was coming next. As time passed I became more lucid and the blood tests had confirmed that I wasn't filled with 'street drugs,'" she wrote. "However, I was tested for every brain disorder, stroke, seizure, MRI's, CT scans, no expense spared, as the resulting bill verified...And every test came up normal."

Scott, who said her husband never left her side, eventually returned home but still felt out of sorts. The actress decided to try alternatives and went to California-based acupuncturist, Jordan Hoffman, who also changed her diet to include all organic food. Scott also received massages every other day.

“And that is how I have been recovering. The daily improvements are slight, but very welcome,” she said. “I have stopped hallucinating, my taste buds are back and I finally went back to work 2 weeks ago. The dizziness was the last symptom to disappear. My memory was still a bit sketchy when I first returned to work, but it's improving every day.”
