Revenge writers have yet to determine Emily Thorne's ultimate fate.

The ABC series is halfway through its fourth season, and, with no conformation of a fifth, fans have naturally started to wonder what Ms. Thorne's (Emily VanCamp) ending will be. There are currently no rumors of cancellation, but showrunner Sunil Nayar indulged the question nonetheless.

When Emily's story of vengeance does come to a close, it probably won't have a particularly heartwarming conclusion.

"Regardless of how the story ends, there has to be something bittersweet to it, because of all the losses that have come along the way and because of everything that's happened," Nayar informed Entertainment Weekly. "Her appearance in the Hamptons at the beginning of the show has caused a ripple effect that has led to victories and losses that are so epic that I think it will be hard-however it is we choose to end her story-for her to just walk away feeling perfect about everything."

As for whether or not Emily will meet a bloody demise, well, fans will just have to wait and see.

"Whether she lives or die, honestly we don't know yet," Nayar teased.
