According to a new report, the on-again, off-again pair were recently spotted together in Beverly Hills, Calif.

"They actually buried the hatchet a while back, and they are friends," a Perry source told People Magazine on Monday. However, as the source added, the couple's reunion may not be a sign of a rekindled romance. "It's not a surprise they would see each other socially. She's focused on her career and making herself happy."

Perry and Mayer began dating in Aug. 2012, but split after just a few months. Then, in early 2013, the pair were back on, and remained in a relationship until they ultimately split in Feb. 2014.

"They're two very strong-willed people," a source told People at the time of their split. "Despite caring about each other very much and wanting to make it work, they are, at their core, quite different."

Prior to Mayer, Perry was involved in several high-profile relationships. Among them were Johnny Lewis, Josh Groban, Travie McCoy and Robert Pattinson. Perry was also married to Russell Brand from 2009 to 2011.

Since Perry and Mayer's relationship came to an end, the pop star has been linked to even more famous faces, including DJ Diplo, Niall Horan, rapper Riff Raff and actor Jared Leto.

Mayer, on the other hand, has been keeping a low profile since their split, and has only been linked to one woman: Jennifer Lawrence.
