Despite the rumors, Rosie Perez will return to The View after all!
"We look forward to welcoming the multi-talented Rosie Perez back to her seat as co-host on the panel on Feb. 3 after completing rehearsals for her upcoming Broadway play," the network said in a statement Thursday. "She brings her rich life experience and passion to the table-something we've sorely missed while she's away."
Rumors stirred that Perez would leave the show after just one season. There was speculation that Perez wasn't getting along with fellow hosts Whoopi Goldberg and Rosie O'Donnell, and that she wouldn't come back after taking a hiatus from the show to rehearse for Broadway's Fish in the Dark. Those were clearly just false rumors.
Perez joined the show in September along with MSNBC political analyst Nicolle Wallace, Rosie O'Donnell (who appeared on the show from 2006 to 2007) and the only returning host from the previous season Whoopi Goldberg.
"I am beyond thrilled, honored and completely surprised that I've been asked to join The View," Perez said in a statement at the time. "Knowing that I'll be in the company of Whoopi, Rosie and Nicolle, three very smart and engaging women that I have an immense amount of respect for, makes it even more unbelievable. The opportunity to connect with our nation's audience on a daily basis... icing on the cake! Very happy."
