On Sunday, Entertainment Weekly announced that several SNL alumni, musicians and favorites from over the years would return for the 3-hour special. The site recently reported that the Scandal star has been added to the list, and she is scheduled to make a guest appearance during the show.

Washington's name was revealed on Wednesday, Feb. 4 along with several other guest stars.

If the rumors are true, the actress will be joining the stage with other A-list celebs and SNL alum such as Justin Timberlake, Kanye West, Robert De Niro, Jimmy Fallon, Chris Rock and a host of others.

This isn't the first time Washington has been invited to host SNL. Back in November, the actress handled a heavy diversity mantle that tackled the lack of diversity within the show's cast.

During her opening sketch, Washington had to portray the role of First Lady Michelle Obama and media mogul Oprah Winfrey. Before the sketch began, the show jokingly mocked the fact that Washington would be portraying various African American women.

"Producers at Saturday Night Live would like to apologize to Kerry Washington for the number of black women she will be asked to play tonight."

SNL took a lot of heat for their lack of an African American female cast member on their show. Since then, the NBC hit television show has added some diversity to their show by hiring several new African American female writers and players.

Saturday Night Lives' 40th Anniversary Special will be airing on Sunday, Feb. 15 at 8 p.m. on NBC.
