The characters of Showtime's Penny Dreadful will be getting into some trouble with this law this season.

Director Says 'Penny Dreadful' Will 'Thrill' Fans This Season 

They've dealt with vampires, werewolves, and the immortal. Now, the Victorian supernatural drama will be taking on the government. Though Sir Malcolm (Timothy Dalton) and his crew primarily operated under the cover of night during the show's first season, it looks like this time around they might just have a few run-ins with local law enforcement.

On Monday producer Christopher King shared a photo from the set which showed a window for a police station. King teased that someone on the series was getting into "trouble with the law", though he refused to give any names.

Showtime Makes Last Minute Changes For 'Penny Dreadful' 

The person King is referring to could be anyone, from the morally ambigious Victor Frankenstein (Harry Treadaway) to American runaway Ethan Chandler (Josh Hartnett). Each character on the program has his or her own demons, though some might be more damning than others in the eyes of the law.  

Bringing the police into things could be another way in which creator John Logan is trying to present more human villains in addition to supernatural ones on the series this year.

Penny Dreadful will return on Showtime for a second season on Sunday, May 3.
