Orange Is the New Black star Dascha Polanco recently spoke on body image and what it was like to see herself on screen in a major role for the first time.

Polanco admitted to Cosmopolitan recently that she was not entirely happy when she saw herself on screen as Daya in Orange Is the New Black.

"When I saw myself on screen for the first time in Orange which I was like cringing because I looked so big," she said. "I didn't look curvy, I just looked big. And I felt like, that's not me. So I started working out."

Despite wanting to change how she look initially, she ultimately came to terms with how she looked and embraced who she was.

"You know what? I'm never going to be a size zero," Polanco said. "And I don't want to be. I love being thick. I love having things to move around. To twerk with! I just want to keep it together and I want to have it controlled. I want to be able to control it. Not it control me."

Polanco's Daya is pregnant in Orange Is the New Black after having sex with guard John Bennett (Matt McGorry). It is not known when she will finally have the baby but it should be coming along very soon.

Orange Is the New Black season 3 is slated to premiere in mid-2015 on Netflix, though the streaming site has not yet announced a specific release date.
