Millions of fans around the world finally got their face-to-face meeting with Mr. Christian Grey and based on the numbers, the film is certainly a success. The year's most anticipated film Fifty Shades of Grey hit theaters on Friday and the movie has broken has topped box office charts and broken a number of records. 

Fans On Twitter Reacting To New Film '50 Shades of Grey'

The Fifty Shades fared in $248 .7 million globally and broke the record for biggest international opening of all time for an R- rated film.

On Monday, The Hollywood Reporter announced that the new film, staring Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson, bought in a gross $90.7 million domestically, and $158 million from 58 international markets.

'Fifty Shades' Movie Soundtrack Finally Available

In addition to breaking box officer charts, the film also broke a number of records. According to the site, the film ranks as Universal's top opening movie in 31 territories.

Here a look at how the new film made out:

The U.K. and Ireland, $21.5 million. Biggest opening weekend for a film with an ultra-restrictive 18 rating. It's also the ninth-biggest debut of all time, not accounting for inflation.

Germany, 15.2 million. No. 2 opening ever for a Universal title.

France, $12 million. Biggest Universal opening.

Russia, $10.5 million. Biggest opening for a film with an 18 or 16 rating, and biggest Universal opening.

Italy, 9.1 million. Biggest R-rated opening, and biggest Universal opening.

Spain, $7.9 million. Biggest opening for a film rated 18.

Luckily for fans, Fifty Shades film director Sam Taylor Johnson recently confirmed that she and her team would be shooting sequels to the film in the very near future.
