There is a lot of speculation surrounding the plot of Transformers 5 and one of the main points of contention was the return of Optimus Prime. It was believed that Optimus won't be part of the fifth instalment, but recent reports suggest otherwise.

When Will Filming For The Age of Extinction Sequel Begin?

As Optimus Prime was seen traveling into space, headed to Cybertron to meet his maker at the end of Age of Extinction, many believed that the sequel would be set in Cybertron and there were a lot of theories being suggested to corroborate that. But in a recent interview, producer Lorenzo de Bonaventura revealed that it was more likely that the saga will continue to unfold on mortal land and there were no plans to set it in space. In fact Bonaventura also stated that the setting for Transformers 5 will be very similar to that of Age of Extinction. There were inferences that Optimus Prime will not be in the next instalment.

But recent reports have been including Optimus Prime in the plot, and it is a possibility that the fifth chapter might go back to how things were, which means Optimus would have to be an integral part.

When Will Filming For The Age of Extinction Sequel Begin?

Peter Cullen, the voice of Optimus Prime, has requested the producers of Transformers to go back to the drift of the series before Age of Extinction. This has set off a rumor about the next instalment rewinding, and straying from the plot of Age of Extinction. Only time will tell if the producers will actually take action and consider Cullen's advice.

Cullen had expressed concerns about the severity of the last movie, and has requested the producers to tone it down some in the fifth instalment.

Transformers: Age of Extinction hit theaters on June 27, 2014.
