Grey's Anatomy has seen a lot of medical staff come and go over the years, including Kate Walsh's character Dr. Addison Montgomery.

Walsh's character first appeared on the medical drama at the end of its first season.

Dr. Montgomery stuck around on Grey's Anatomy until the end of the third season, which wrapped airing in May 2007.

Walsh wound up with her own spin-off show of Grey's Anatomy called Private Practice, which chronicled her character's life as she left behind working at the hospital in Seattle for a private practice in Los Angeles.

Walsh did go on to make guest spots on Grey's though during later seasons, last appearing in season 8's 13th episode.

Private Practice came to an end in January 2013, but Walsh recently revealed on Wednesday to CBS News that if showrunner Shonda Rhimes "invited me to come and do something, I absolutely would. It's like coming home for the holidays."

Walsh even shared she never thought she would have been a series regular on Grey's.

"I really just thought it was going to be five episodes or something on the show," she stated.

The actress spoke highly of Rhimes.

"I feel she did something kind of marvelous for women that had started to get done in TV, but really hadn't been done, which is give them real characters that were three-dimensional and interesting on their own," Walsh said.

Grey's Anatomy airs on Thursday nights at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
