They finally reunited and were trying to work things out as a couple after he was pardoned and released from jail, but Sonny (Maurice Benard) and Carly's (Laura Wright) relationship could face its biggest test yet in Jake (Billy Miller) on General Hospital.

The Mob War Intensifies

Sonny wasn't happy when he realized Carly had grown close to the man responsible for planting the bomb on the Haunted Star, and he was especially peeved when he realized Carly had invited him to stay with her after he was released from the hospital. He doesn't trust Jake because it is clear to him that he had some previous professional training within the mob-and he believes Jake to be a threat to Carly's safety.

However, when Jake revealed he would be working for Julian (Michael DeVry), Sonny became even more enraged-and told Jake that working for his enemy made him his enemy as well-something Carly overheard. Now, she will demand answers from Sonny about why he is threatening her friend-and she may not take his answers very well.

Jake Gets A Surprising Job

"Sonny, what the hell's going on?" she asks in a preview clip for the Tuesday, March 17 episode.

If Carly chooses to side with Jake, it could permanently upset her relationship with Sonny for good, and once again, the two could find themselves at odds and apart.

Meanwhile, Julian is informing others in his organization that he has hired someone new-and when he shares with Carlos (Jeffrey Vincent Parise) that the new associate is none other than Jake, his closest confidant could be shocked by the news.

"I have a new associate," Julian says.

General Hospital airs Monday-Friday at 3 p.m. on ABC.
