The actress then pointed out how serious her relationship was when she was hiding physical marks on her body.

"I feel like culturally you know when it is domestic abuse when he lays a hand on you. And I was covering bruises and still was writing it off," she said. "But you know that that's when it's domestic abuse."

Ryan revealed that bruises aren't the only signs of abuse. There are several other forms as well.

"There's a thing called digital abuse- if he's demanding that you're checking in, checking your phone, creeping on your emails, that's digital abuse," she said. "If he is cutting you down and insulting you, and if he's jealous and possessive, if he's physical with you or tries to convince you to do things you don't want to do, these are all signs of abuse."
