The Vampire Diaries is on a brief hiatus until April 16, but a trailer has been released for that night's episode.

Who Is Nina Dobrev's Favorite Costar On 'The Vampire Diaries'?

I Never Could Love Like That will focus on Lily Salvatore (Annie Wersching) being in present-day Mystic Falls since Damon (Ian Somerhalder), Elena (Nina Dobrev) and Bonnie (Kat Graham) brought her back from the 1903 prison world in the previous new episode, A Bird in a Gilded Cage, that aired on March 19.

In the trailer, which is below, Elena is giving Damon advice about needing to give Lily a chance since she is his mother.

Damon is defiant and insists Lily is nothing more than "a tool" to help get Stefan's (Paul Wesley) humanity switched on again.

In the trailer, Caroline (Candice Accola) is off the rails and using a coin flip to decide upon who she should kill between Tyler (Michael Trevino) and Matt (Zach Roerig), which amuses Stefan.

Stefan will then be in for quite the shock when his mother shows up.

Entertainment Weekly revealed Friday that Wersching shared some scoop on what will come of her character's relationship with Stefan and Damon.

They are Lily's sons, but they obviously won't have the conventional mother-son relationship for obvious reasons.

"She has a lot of torment inside of her," Wersching shared, adding, "And then adding this guilt that she feels for what the boys think of her and think that she did to them, [it] really messes with her."

Wersching revealed Lily will struggle adjusting to present-day life and her relationship with Stefan and Damon.

"They do eventually become their own version of a mother-son relationship," she noted.
