Oscar 'Papoo' Hernandez Jr., who has no relationship to the former Patriots player, pleaded guilty to shipping an assault rifle and two handguns to Hernandez shortly before Lloyd was killed.

On Monday, The Boston Herald reported that Papoo says he was blinded by Hernanez's fame and after pleading guilty to the charges, he suffered a beat down behind bars for being named as a witness in the case.

Papoo also told the court that he was in 'awe' to be in the company of the football star and was simply, "grateful to be noticed, and had no way of anticipating the terrible events which would follow."

According to the witness's public defender Charles P. McGinity, his client was held at Wyatt Detention Center in Rhone Island and after being confronted by other inmates, he was held in isolation.

Last week, TMZ reported that Ward's attorney has confirmed that charges have been filed against Hernandez for a wrongful death suit and according to attorney Doug Sheff, they do plan on calling Hernandez to the stand.

As previously reported, Hernandez was allegedly involved in another double homicide that took place in 2012 and he is also being sued by a man named Alexander Bradley, who claims the former athlete shot him while the two men were in a limousine back in February of 2013.
