Diane Lane's Martha Kent may not be the most exciting character to be featured in Batman v Superman, but she will symbolize something important in the 2016 blockbuster.

Jesse Eisenberg Says Playing Bald Lex Luthor Is 'Freezing'

Lane first appeared in 2013's Man of Steel as Martha, the earth mother of Clark Kent, a.k.a. Superman (Henry Cavill). The actress will be starring in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice as well, though she is not allowed to say much about it.

The actress spoke with USA Today this week about her role in the highly anticipated blockbuster.

Henry Cavill Reveals How 'Batman vs Superman' Fits In With 'Man Of Steel'

"[Martha is] the antithesis of a superhero. She represents mother earth in every way," Lane noted. "It's another era now. Martha got a job. She's still available as a parent is, forever."

As expected, when pressed for story details in Batman v Superman, Lane was tight-lipped.

"I can't reveal anything about the storyline. The script was redacted," she said. "I'm so naive. I didn't know what the word spoiler meant. I thought it was a phenomenon. Why would anyone do that?"

In a movie stuffed with huge characters like Superman, Batman (Ben Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg) and more it can be hard to stand out, though Lane's strength as a dramatic actress will likely lend itself well to the movie, regardless of screentime.

Other stars in the film include Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Holly Hunter, Tao Okamoto and many more.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is scheduled for release in theaters on March 25, 2016.
