Tom Cruise has heard enough gossip over his relationship with his daughter.

Cruise is suing Life & Style and In Touch over both magazines' published claims that he has abandoned daughter Suri since her mom Katie Holmes filed for divorce.

Following the separation of the famous Hollywood couple, Life & Style published a story titled "Suri in Tears: Abandoned by Her Dad" and In Touch published "Abandoned By Daddy."

On Wednesday, Bert Fields, attorney for Cruise, sent out a statement that said the following:

"Tom is a caring father who dearly loves Suri.  She's a vital part of his life and always will be.  To say he has 'abandoned' her is a vicious lie.  To say it in lurid headlines with a tearful picture of Suri is reprehensible."

Cruise's attorney elaborated on the case saying, "Tom doesn't go around suing people. He's not a litigious guy. But when these sleaze peddlers try to make money with disgusting lies about his relationship with his child, you bet he's going to sue."

The $50 million lawsuit cites defamation of character from the popular magazines.

According to TMZ, the statement continued saying, "These serial defamers are foreign owned companies with their global headquarters in Hamburg. They take money from unsuspecting Americans by selling their malicious garbage. Having to pay a libel judgment may slow them down."

The couple split in June and 6-year-old Suri went to live with Holmes in New York while Cruise was filming. The divorce incited a number of gossip magazines to make the story the big news of the summer.

With the custody hearings moving along, speculation over Cruise's relationship with his daughter became sour. Gossip started hovering on whether his ties with Scientology are keeping him away from his daughter.

The lawsuit filed this week targets Bauer Publishing Company, the publisher of Life & Style and In Touch. The actor's attorney said that any damages won in the case will be given to charity.
