There doesn't seem to be an end to Lindsay Lohan's increasing legal difficulties.

Now the actress may reportedly face jail time for obstruction of justice.

The latest charge follows a car accident that happened in June on California's Pacific Coast Highway, according to TMZ.

After the 26-year-old actress's Porsche hit the rear of an 18-wheeler, she allegedly told police that she was not the driver.  However, statements from several witnesses at the scene say that Lohan was driving the vehicle in the collision.

Lohan will be charged later in the week with a misdemeanor by police sent to prosecutors at the Santa Monica City Attorney's office.

Having the criminal charge could lead to a violation of her probation that originated from a 2011 jewelry theft charge.

The Los Angeles City Attorney's Office apparently found out about Lohan's recent criminal charge on the gossip website and are now "gathering information" to determine if there are grounds for a possible violation of probation.

It's still a possibility that Judge Stephanie Sautner would not need a conviction to send Lohan to jail for the new case.

Another issue raised after the crash was when police discovered pills in Lohan's purse. The authorities were prepared to charge the actress with possession of narcotics, but her lawyer Shawn Holley defended his client saying they were legally prescribed medications. Police dropped the accusation, according to the Inquistr.

Lohan recently had another brush with the law when she was arrested in September for leaving the scene of a car accident. The actress drove off after allegedly bumping into Jose Rodriguez with her car outside the Dream Downtown Hotel. The New York Post confirmed that she will not be charged over that incident.

Lohan will star as Elizabeth Taylor the Lifetime TV movie "Liz & Dick," airing on Nov. 25.
