Wargaming has finally escaped the world. The famed developer of World of Tanks, World of Warplanes, and World of Warships has decided to venture into outer space, with a reboot of classic colonization series Master of Orion.

Microsoft Announces 1 TB Xbox One With Revamped Controller

Wargaming bought the rights to the franchise from Atari back in 2013 and now they're showing off all the work they've done on it, with these new screenshots and an annoucnement trailer. If you're wondering how the World of developers could switch styles so completely, well, they won't be- they've hired Argentinian developer NGD (Bunch of Heroes, Champions of Regnum) to develop the game, along with original members of the Master of Orion team.

Master of Orion is a turn-based 4X strategy game released in 1993 for MS-DOS and Mac OS, and featured players trying to either unite the galaxy or defeat all your opponents.

It was followed by two titles- Master of Orion II: Battle at Antares and Master of Orion III. The second installment was well-received, the third, not so much. Regadless, fans of the series have been waiting for a fourth installment since 2003.

Of course, the rebot is being rebuilt from the ground up. No word on if it will be free-to-play like all of Wargaming's other titles.

We expect to hear more about this title at next week's E3, and will let you know when we do. For now, enjoy the announcement trailer!
