Prosecution Claims 'No Appropriate Basis Exists For Aaron Hernandez's Lawyers To Request Court Documents Be Sealed

Back in April the former NFL star was convicted of first-degree murder in the case of Odin Lloyd and since then his lawyers have been working toward appealing the conviction.

Earlier this month the former New England Patriots tight end's lawyers filed certain motions about the trial being unfair due to a juror on the panel.

FOX 25 reported on this news, in which it was revealed that his legal team believes one of the jurors was exposed to information outside of the courtroom, which could have impacted the verdict.

At the time those filings were sealed, but now they are unsealed, yet redacted, according to ESPN via AP on Monday.

Hernandez's lawyer James Sultan revealed in the edited court documents that an anonymous tipster first called him on April 16, which was a day after the 12-person jury convicted Hernandez of first-degree murder in the 2013 killing of Odin Lloyd.

Hernandez is currently serving a sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole.

In the filed documents, Sultan told the judge that one of the jurors might have been "untruthful" during jury selection.

He said that the female tipster revealed the juror wanted to be on Hernandez's murder trial's jury.

Sultan claimed that if he and his co-counsel had been aware of this as well as this juror apparently knowing about the Boston case during the jury selection, they would have asked for the juror to be excused from the panel.
