Monty and Jasper's 100 friendship is currently on the rocks, so lets take this moment to look back at one of the strongest points in their friendship - their arrest.

'The 100' Season 3: What's Next For Jasper? Devon Bostick Teases Exciting Plot

The young Arkers are proof positive that your best friend won't be the one to bail you out hen you're arrested, they'll be the ones sitting in jail next to you. It's well known that Monty (Christopher Larkin) and Jasper (Devon Bostick) were participating in a little 420 experimentation when the Guard took them down, but it's remained a little unclear as to how the whole affair went down.

Luckily for viewers, writer Kim Shumway has eased the hiatus blues with a look into Jasper and Monty's past.

'The 100' Season 3: Which Character Has An 'Amazing' Role In The Premiere? Jason Rothenberg Explains

"They were arrested for what they took. Given the serious resource limitations on the Ark, recreational drug use wouldn't have been allowed. They didn't have enough water to grow a surplus of food, much less a surplus of pot for kids to get high," Shumway said, explaining that the pair were caught trying to replace the stolen weed to rectify their misuse of medical resources.

While this has become the canonical story, the writers were hoping to take the arrest in a slightly different direction.

"In the writers' discussions of it, the backstory was that they had rigged up a grow room in the walls and they were growing their own," Shumway teased. "I've always wanted to write the flashback webisode showing all that (which would involve Miller and his dad being supremely awesome in vastly different ways), but alas, we haven't gotten the opportunity to do webisodes on this show. It's fun in my head, though."
