Conscious rapper Kendrick Lamar kicked off the show with his newest hit "Alright". The crowd was not only bouncing and enjoying his performance but also moved by the lyrics that brought attention to police brutality against the African American communities that have been making news around the nation lately.

The legendary Smokey Robinson was given a special tribute by Tori Kelly (who fans definitely seemed to love!), Robin Thicke and Ne-Yo before he received the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award.

But what really shocked fans was when Bad Boy celebrated its 20th anniversary! Diddy started the party that brought back fans’ favorite memories from the 90s. Everyone got out of their seat when his partner-in-crime Mase surprised the audience and viewers with a dope performance. But it didn’t stop there. Lil Kim made an epic return to the stage as well as Faith Evans. It was definitely one of the most memorable moments of the night— especially since Diddy fell through the space that Lil Kim was supposed to pop out of.

Ciara, Jason Derulo and Tinashe rocked to some of Janet Jackson’s biggest songs as she was given the Ultimate Icon: Music Dance Visual Award.

Fetty Wap was the last to perform with his hit "Trap Queen" and Rihanna gave fans a 1:00 peek at her brand new video for "BBHMM". The Weeknd, Chris Brown, Nicki MInaj, Meek Mill, Alicia Keys, gospel singer Donnie McClurkin were just some of artists to hit the stage as well. Nicki Minaj took home the coveted Viewers’ Choice Award but she really wasn’t sure of which award it was when she came back on stage to thank fans. And with the help of Patti LaBelle, Tamar Braxton and K. Michelle ended their three-year feud.
