Lindsay Lohan returned to acting in her first starring role in years when her Lifetime movie "Liz & Dick" premiered on Sunday night, but the road to that premiere was a challenging one.

Larry Thompson, the producer behind "Liz & Dick," already spoken about the difficulties the production team faced because of Lohan and her many legal issues.

"We had serious challenges to deal with due to her probation and her history therefore we had to make a deal where there were pages and pages of 'what if' clauses," Thompson said." There never was a 'what if she can act' clause. It was about, 'What if there is a car accident? What if there is a violation of her probation [and she's] incarcerated?' "

"Those 'what ifs' were plenty. She might be the most insured actress who ever walked on a soundstage. We tried to insure ourselves against things that could and, in fact, did happen," he added.

Another tough spot came in the costuming department. The film's costume designer, Salvador Perez Jr., said dressing Lohan for the film was tough because she is easily distracted and her body type is quite different from that of Elizabeth Taylor, according to a new report from Perez Hilton.

"I was really put to the test to make the movie believable and iconic at the same time," he said. "And also, we're talking Elizabeth Taylor and Lindsay Lohan, two woman who wear clothes very differently. I had to be inspired by Elizabeth Taylor, but flatter Lindsay Lohan...Lindsay was constantly watching Elizabeth Taylor movies. At the beginning of the day we'd have a fitted costume, but she'd completely change it at the last minute just because she was inspired by something else.

"Anytime something was going wrong, I'd just pull out more jewelry and say, 'Look, something sparkly, something sparkly!' That usually placated her." he added.
