World Emoji Day: 38 New Expressive Additions Being Added Texting Options By next Year Including New Foods, Actions, Emotions & More [PHOTO]
Emoji fans will officially have an extensive new selection of picture emoticons to express how they feel about situations in text messages and on social media with the unveiling of 38 new options which will be available in 2016.
The new emojis were unveiled as a part of World Emoji Day, which celebrates the Unicode Consortium gifting electronics users with new sets of pictographs, with a subcommittee finalizing the newest additions and submitting them for a vote of approval earlier this month.
According to Yahoo, the new emojis will be added to the existing set (usable of a wide variety of operating systems) beginning in June 2016 as part of the Unicode 9.0 update.
The announcement also comes one month after Unicode 8.0 was unveiled, adding varied skin tones, a taco, a unicorn, and other symbols to the existing set. The full roll-out of 8.0 is expected to be incorporated into Apple and Microsoft operating systems within the next month.
