It might be fall, but there's nothing fall-like about this weather. The past few weeks have been unseasonably warm, and judging from my phone's weather app, it doesn't look like it'll cool down for a while.

Not that I'm complaining, of course. I'm more than happy to wear shorts and tank tops year-round. However, in the spirit of fall, I'm looking to step up my game and bring my summer staples into the colder season. Here's how to do it.

A basic white tee and jeans is a year-round staple, but instead of pairing with your favorite sandals (or a pair of white Adidas Superstars) make the look fall-friendly by wearing with a floral print sneaker. A duster coat is an essential for fall, and is lightweight enough to feel easy on warm fall days. A wine-hued lip will tie it all together.

If you have a zillion sleveless summer dresses that you dread packing away until the spring, don't freak out: You can still get plenty of wear out of them. Just pair your easy-breezy summer dress with a black turtleneck underneath, along with a fall-ready boot. Upgrade your summer bucket bag to a doctor style. Keep summer's beach waves intact with a bit of salt spray--they'll never go out of style.
