Lindsay Lohan is back.

It's been a long two years since the actress has starred in a feature film (2013's The Canyons), and even longer since she's done one that was successful. But now the troubled actress is giving us all hope with her next project, The Shadow Within.

LL took to Instagram to share several photos announcing that she was working on the movie, which, based on its title alone, sounds both intriguing and spooky.

The first photo Lohan shared is a closeup of herself smiling and wearing coral lipstick.

"My first day on my new film!!!!" she captioned the shot on Monday. "Will be sending a sneak [peek] of my character this week," closing the sentence with her signature kissy face emoji and the hashtag "#theshadowwithin."

The next day, Lohan shared a mirror selfie (and most likely #latergram) while wearing a black turtleneck, pouting her red lips and glowing more than ever.

"First day on set of my new film 'The Shadow Within,'" she wrote, adding some movie-themed emojis. (There's obviously no better way to spice up an Instagram photo than by talking about the subject with the appropriate emojis.)

After a series of critically-panned flops and substance abuse issues in the actress' personal life, The Shadow Within could be Lohan's well-deserved comeback film.

Most recently, Lohan moved to London and starred in the David Mamet play Speed the Plow and made a guest appearance on CBS' 2 Broke Girls. Earlier this year, she starred in the short "Til Human Voices Wake Us."
