Just in time for the holidays, ASUS is gearing up to the ZenFone Max smartphone, expanding its line of new handsets. As PhoneArena reports, the phone was recently spotted in a promo video, hinting that it will hit retail shelves soon. Originally due for an October release, the ZenFone Max release date is now set for December 17, this according to Indian price comparison guide, PriceRaja.

Boasting an impressive 5,000mAh custom made lithium-polymer battery, the ASUS ZenFone Max's battery is so hefty that it can double as a power bank to energize other devices. Thanks to the extremely long-lasting battery, you can get up to 38 hours of talk time and a staggering 38 days of standby time. The possibilities of what you can do on the ZenFone Max are endless, enjoy 33 hours of Wi-Fi Web hopping or up to 23 hours of video playback on a 5.5-inch 1280p HD display. The ZenFone Max steps into the mobile ring rivaling existing 5,000mAh battery smartphones including the Lenovo Vibe P1 and the BLU Studio Energy.

Impressive battery capacity powers a Qualcomm 410 quad-core Snapdragon processor running next to 2GB of RAM. For instant selfies and quick snapshots the Zenfone Max has an integrated 5MP camera on the front and a 13MP primary rear shooter. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity lets you stay connected and add wireless accessories. Factory fresh, the phone comes bundled with Android Lollipop and ZENUI, a software update to Android 6.0 Marshmallow may be in the cards for it, we'll see. The ZenFone Max comes with the standard 16GB of built-in storage and microSD support for expanding the internal memory capacity up to 64GB. Designed with a faux leather back cover for a luxury feel, the ZenFone Max resembles the newly released ASUS ZenFone Zoom. Sporting a price tag of 12,999 Rupees ($195), the ZenFone Max will come in two color options, black and white, by the time it gets to market.
