Beckham Underwear Ad: David's Sexy H&M Ad Campaign & Buttgate [Video]
David Beckham appears in a new ad campaign for his bodywear collection for retailer H&M. The sexy ad campaign, directed by Guy Ritchie, shows the English soccer star in skimpy boxer briefs and bedroom slippers, impersonating an action hero.
The ad is more of a short film, which shows Beckham's acting skills - something which we could all be hoping to see more of in the future. Does the ad campaign show us a glimpse of his acting career?
When asked whether he is heading towards acting, Beckham told AP : "It's been great working with Guy. He's one of my favorite directors, and also a friend, so it was amazing to work with him on my new Bodywear commercial for H&M. It was good fun playing an action hero for the day, getting to do all the stunts and ending up in unexpected situations, but acting full-time is not something I see myself doing in the near future."
The short ad clip starts off by showing the former LA Galaxy star wearing a robe, with credits showing 'A film directed by Guy Ritchie, starring David Beckham."
In the clip, Beckham says goodbye to his wife and kids but when the car drives off, the robe gets caught in the door, ripping it off of Beckham, whose chiseled torso with tattooed arms are revealed, wearing a tank top, tight boxer briefs and bedroom slippers. He chases the car and while doing so, sheds his tanktop, revealing only his boxer shorts. He jumps through a bush, across a tennis court, hops over walls, kicks a soccer ball, dives into a pool, and runs as fast as he can to catch the car to retrieve his robe. He then gives up and looks off into the distance where the car is driving through. Then, a group of tourists in a truck stops to see Beckham, and start snapping pictures of the topless Beckham in skimpy briefs.
However, reports are now emerging that Beckham used a body double for his butt. "David was very involved in the advert including doing most of the stunts," a an H&M rep said in a statement obtained by E! Online. "Due to his tight schedule a body double was used in smaller parts of the video."
The Daily Beast has coined Beckham's body double scandal as 'Buttgate."
Beckham, 37, launched his bodywear collection in partnership with H&M last year. Last year, statues of Beckham were seen popping up in big cities to promote the brand.
"When we launched the collection, we wanted it to be a range of new classics that men could rely on," Beckham told AP. "We spent 18 months developing the range and working on the product, focusing on fit, comfort and the design details that make for a great piece of bodywear. The core range stays exactly the same, and we add to it only when we feel there's a need for a new piece, like the lounge jerseys and long johns or the morning gown that we added last year. This is a long-term collection, and I'm proud to put my name to it."
