Avril Lavigne opened up on her current relationship with Chad Kroeger after the split announcement.

The ex-couple attended the Juno Awards in Canada over the weekend where Entertainment Tonight caught up with them on the red carpet. When asked how they were doing, they said they were well as Kroeger said he brought a "date," referring to Lavigne.

"She asked me a couple months ago if I would come be her date at the Grammy's at Clive Davis's party, a really good time, then this came up and I said, 'You want to come to the Juno's?' She's like, 'Yeah, sure,'" Kroeger said.

Lavigne then chimed in on how both of them had a pretty big year in 2015 and how they're taking baby steps to get their lives together.

"I'm not performing at the Juno's, I'm here with Chad supporting him," she said. "And for me, it's exciting to be getting back, and Chad and I have a great friendship and we started together in the studio working and we still work together, so it's important for us to just keep that relationship."

The pop star also dished on how she and Kroeger both had health scares where she had Lyme disease and he had throat surgery. But that doesn't stop them from always caring about each other no matter what happens.

"That's life, right? Full of ups and downs," Lavigne said. "We love each other and we always will."

Lavigne announced the end of her marriage last fall after being married to the Nickleback rocker for two years.
