Liza Minelli's ex-husband and reality TV star David Gest has been found dead in a London hotel. He was 62.

Gest, a music producer who is best known for his marriage to Liza Minnelli from 2002 to 2003 until their divorce was finalized in 2007—as well as his stints on reality TV shows including Celebrity Big Brother and I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here!—was found at the Four Seasons Hotel in Canary Wharf after police were called to the luxury property to investigate an "unexplained" death, The Daily Mail reports.

"Police were called at 10:17 on Tuesday 12 April to the Four Seasons hotel, in Westferry Circus to reports of an unexplained death of a man in his 60s," a Scotland Yard spokesman said. "London Ambulance Service were called to the scene. Life was pronounced extinct at the hotel. A post-mortem will be held in due course. Next of kin are in the process of being informed."

Gets was later confirmed to be the person who had died.

His death comes just before he was set to embark on a tour in Britain called "David Gest Is Not Dead But Alive With Soul," which played on the misunderstanding of his Celebrity Big Brother Houseguest Tiffany Pollard earlier this year when she misunderstood David Bowie's death as Gest's. He had exited from the show early due to health problems.

Gest was also known for his close friendship with Michael Jackson, and for producing the highest rated musical television special in history, Michael Jackson: 30th Anniversary Celebration: The Solo Years back in 2001, but his biggest dose of mainstream fame came from his short marriage to Minnelli.

The two married in 2002 with Jackson serving as best man and Elizabeth Taylor as maid of honor, but the couple separated only 18 months later. The split was characterized by his lawsuit against her for $20 million with claims she physically assaulted him during their relationship, while she countersued with claims he'd stolen $2 million in earnings from her. They filed for divorce in 2007.
