Two American Idol contestants who finished in second place reappeared on The Billboard 200 album chart this week.

Crystal Bowersox had appeared in the ninth season of American Idol and David Archuleta in the seventh.

After recording an album for Jive Records, Bowersox went on to sign with the Shanachi Label. Her first release for that imprint, All That for This entered The Billboard 200 album chart at No. 71. The album was also featured on Top Rock Albums at No. 21, Top Independent Albums at No. 13 and Top Folk Albums at No. 5. The first Bowersox album, Farmer's Daughter, peaked at No. 28 on The Billboard 200 in January 2011.

Archuleta began a two-year mission for the Mormon church a year ago. Halfway through that assignment, he was featured on the album chart with his second album since leaving for South America, labeled No Matter How Far. This album combined newly recorded material and landed at No. 110. Eight months later, he came out with an album titled Begin, peaking at No. 28.

No Matter How Far was the fifth solo album by Archuleta that charted the Billboard. He'd had one album chart in every year since he made his first appearance on the Billboard tallies in 2008.
