Marcel is grieving over the death of Davina on The Originals, but what does it mean for his relationship with the Mikaelsons?

On Friday, TV Line shared an interview with Charles Michael Davis who plays Marcel on the series. After Davina died, he's not in the best spot and might try to gain control of the city again-- key word being 'might.'

"It's more about making [the Mikaelsons] answer for what they've done," Davis explained. "Right now, he's kind of in the dark about who he is in relation to the Mikaelsons, which really messes with his own perception. I don't think he's ready to lead if he doesn't know who he is, so he'll need to get some answers first."

As for how Marcel will continue to deal with Davina being gone, there's a specific reason why he needs time to heal.

"He saw her grow as a woman, and he tried to keep her safe, even going so far as to locking her up in an attic," Davis said. "He felt a strong connection to her, so this is going to be really tough for him."

The actor then opened up on the possibility of Rebekah returning since someone from Marcel's past is supposed to make an appearance. Whether it's Rebakah or not, it's still going to be pretty amazing to see.

"They'll accelerate the plot at times, but they'll also inhibit certain things," Davis said about this mystery character. "The exciting thing is to see how and when that happens and what the effect is. It's a really exciting episode. A lot of the characters go through a lot of changes."

The Originals airs on Fridays at 9 p.m. ET on The CW.
