Apple's iPhone 7 has to do a lot of things. For one, it has to persuade iPhone 6 owners who skipped on the iPhone 6S to upgrade to the latest model. Plus, it also has to be equipped with enough features to entice users of mobile devices to buy the newest iPhone Apple has to offer. Unfortunately, recent rumors have not been very encouraging.

Since the release of the iPhone 6S, the rumor mill has been in overdrive about the possible features that would be included in 2016's device. Among these are the removal of the headphone jack and the possibility of including a Smart Connector for the tech giant's upcoming premium phablet, the iPhone 7 Plus.

However, as the date of the device's reveal draws nearer, rumors are emerging once more that the device would be dropping a number of key features. If the latest rumors are to be believed, the iPhone 7 would still have a headphone jack, and it would not have the Smart Connector at all. Couple this with numerous leaks featuring iPhone 7 mockups that are nigh-identical to the iPhone 6S, and it seems like the iPhone 7 would be a rather underwhelming device.

However, even if the iPhone 7 would indeed forego much of the innovations that are allegedly planned for the device, there is still a chance for Apple to make the device a massive hit among fans.

Apple has a very dedicated fanbase; one that is willing to line up outside the firm's stores just to become among the first people to get Apple's latest devices. Thus, if Apple could capitalize on this, the iPhone 7 might still be a runaway winner for the tech giant.

In order to do this, of course, Apple would need to equip the iPhone 7 with a killer feature, similar to the iPhone 6's bigger screen and sleek frame. For the iPhone 7, one of the features that it could capitalize on would be wireless charging capabilities.

Though wireless charging has been around for some time, Apple has yet to fully embrace the technology for its flagship smartphones. This is not to say that Apple is lagging behind its competitors, however, as the Apple Watch is already equipped with a wireless charging system. The only question now, of course, is when Apple would opt to include the technology in its premium smartphone line.

With the iPhone 7 looking to be almost identical to the iPhone 6 and 6S, Apple really needs to equip the upcoming device with an alluring feature. As far as rumors and fans are concerned, it seems like wireless charging might very well be it.
