One Direction was not present at the 2013 MTV Movie Awards on Sunday but nevertheless, one of its band members got a shout-out by Avengers actor Tom Hiddleston.  

The English actor went on stage to accept his award for Best Villain and to the surprise of many fans, thanked pop singer Liam Payne in his acceptance speech. After mentioned the Avengers cast and crew, the actor said he wanted to thank Payne "for spreading the love."

Payne recently got a dog that he named Loki, the same name as the villainous character Hiddleston plays in the superhero movie that he was won an award for. The actor referenced the dog in his speech on Sunday, saying the animal is probably a "better breed, better known" and has "more Twitter followers than I do."

Payne introduced the Siberian husky named Loki that he is raising with his girlfriend in March via Twitter.

"Everybody meet mine and @daniellepeazer new dog Loki :)" wrote the 19-year-old United Kingdom native. He also added a picture of the dog.

The Avengers took home perhaps the biggest award at the MTV Movie Awards: Movie of the Year. They beat fellow nominees Django Unchained, Silver Linings Playbook, Ted and The Dark Knight Rises. The superhero film also stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Samuel L. Jackson, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson and Chris Hemsworth - whom Hiddleston said in his acceptance speech is his "brother from another mother."
