World of Warcraft will burst on to screens this Friday With Warcraft, bringing one of gamings most beloved universes to life.

While this is a milestone for gamers the world over, WWC is hardly the first virtual land to make the jump from consoles to the big screen (its not even the only one this year!). From Mortal Kombat to Tomb Raider, we trawled through cinema's vast library of pixel-inspired fare to bring you a list of your best bets to cap off your World of Warcraft weekend.

Resident Evil (2002)

The first of five films based on the Capcom video game, this Paul W. S. Anderson creation is a perfect entry point for gamers and causal viewers alike. A horror/survival story based around the Umbrella Corporation, the film begins chronicling Alice's (Milla Jovovich) battle against the bioweapon manufacturer from starting the zombie apocalypse.

Silent Hill (2006)

If the video game didn't scare the pants of you, this movie certainly will. Pulling elements from four of Konami's hair-raising titles, the Christopher Gans film chronicle's Rose (Radha Mitchell) and Sharon's (Jodelle Ferland) journey to the town of Silent Hill. The mother and daughter find themselves separated upon arrival and Rose must survive as she uncovered her child's connection to the unsettling locale.

Pokemon: The First Movie (1999)

No kid escaped the '90s without a brush with Pikachu, and this film will take you throw you into a wave of elementary school nostalgia.

Mortal Kombat (1995)

Ah, again with those '90s memories. This film is for those of you who want to put all trade apocalypses and the supernatural for some good old-fashioned hand-to-hand combat. Join Liu Kang (Robin Shou), Johnny Cage (Linden Ashby), and Sonya Blade (Bridgette Wilson-Sampras) on their quest to defeat Shang Tsung (Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa).

If you're looking to spend all day at the theater, you can also check out Ratchet & Clank and Angry Birds.
