During the weeks leading up to E3 2016, rumor after rumor emerged speculating that the follow-up title for Take-Two's hit game, Red Dead Redemption, would make an appearance at the prominent gaming event. E3 came and went, however, and Red Dead Redemption 2 has not been mentioned at all.

While the absence of any announcement regarding the hit game disappointed many of the franchise's fans, it was nonetheless quite unsurprising. After all, Take-Two has explicitly stated before that it would not "milk" any of its franchises such as GTA and RDR. Rather, the developer assured its fanbase that it would be focusing on developing high-quality titles that are, in a lot of ways, perfect for its fans.

This has been the case with the Grand Theft Auto series, one of Take-Two's most prominent franchises. Instead of churning out game after game every couple of years, Take-Two and Rockstar Games have been very deliberate with their releases. As known by gamers, of course, each GTA title has so far been better than the last.

Such is the exact same thing that Take-Two promised for the Red Dead franchise.

For now, at least, fans of the Red Dead franchise could rest assure that the next title would eventually come. In fact, a recent rumor has emerged stating that the actual game now has a working title. If the speculations are accurate, the next Red Dead game would indeed be a direct sequel to Red Dead Redemption, titled Red Dead Redemption 2: Legends of the West.

While the phrasing of this speculated title seems a bit off with regards to the Red Dead games that have come out thus far, there is still a pretty good chance that the next game would indeed carry the Legends of the West title.

With the next Grand Theft Auto title speculated for a 2018 release, however, there is also a pretty good chance that Red Dead Redemption 2 would finally see the light of day sometime in 2017. After all, the last title in the franchise so far, Red Dead Redemption, had been released in 2010.
