The Nintendo NX is arguably the most important gaming console that Nintendo will ever release. After the runaway success of Pokemon GO, the NX would be a device that would either prove or disprove the notion that Nintendo's best IPs are played best on its dedicated devices. Though very little has been known about the NX to date, a series of new rumors have emerged which include some notable would-be features of the upcoming console.

According to the new rumors, Pixart Imaging, a Chinese firm that supplies chips and various optical technologies for products such as the Xbox's Kinect, is also allegedly creating a heart-rate monitor for the Nintendo NX. If these rumors do prove to be true, the notion that the NX might be a fitness-centered gaming console might be pretty accurate.

Apart from the heart-rate monitoring chips, Pixart Imaging's chips are also being used in several cutting-edge technologies such as products which support Virtual Reality. Thus, if Pixart is indeed manufacturing chips for the NX, the upcoming flagship console from Nintendo might very well feature some form of VR support.

If any, these rumors pertaining to Pixart's chips seem to confirm one speculation about the NX that has been going on for quite some time. Indeed, since the NX was announced, the rumor mill has been very persistent in the notion that Nintendo's next console would have some form of VR support.

Though it is unlikely that Nintendo's next flagship console would be able to stand toe-to-toe with the Microsoft Xbox Scorpio, the inclusion of at least some form of VR support would definitely make the NX far more attractive to prospective buyers.

The heart-rate monitor feature, if it does indeed come to fruition, is definitely good news, albeit quite unsurprising. After all, during the height of the Wii's reign, some of Nintendo's most popular games included Wii Fit and Personal Trainer: Walking.

The Nintendo NX is expected to be released early 2017.
