The reign of the Samsung Galaxy S7 as the king of Android phones is coming to an end, as the South Korean tech giant has confirmed that its latest flagship phablet, the Galaxy Note 7, will be officially released on Aug.  2. In fact, pre-orders for the upcoming smartphone have already started, but there's one very big catch. Pre-orders for the Galaxy Note 7 are only available in Dubai.

While it has not been revealed why Samsung opted to open pre-orders for the device in the Middle Eastern country before any other region, Galaxy Note fans in the United States need not worry. According to recent rumors, T-Mobile will start taking pre-orders for the Note 7 starting next week. Other speculations suggest that pre-orders for the Note 7 would be opened both through carriers and online retailers.

The Galaxy Note 7 is looking to be one beast of a device, with rumored stating that it would carry the Exynos 8893 processor or a Snapdragon 821 coupled with a very impressive 6GB of RAM. The device is also rumored to have a dual-curved 5.7-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display, as well as IP68 dust and water resistance. In addition to a fingerprint scanner, the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 also comes equipped with an iris scanner, which has been lauded as one of the device's most interesting features.

Samsung's Note line has lately fallen under the shadow of the tech giant's Galaxy S devices. Over the years, Samsung has always promoted the Note as a device for power users, with specs that go beyond that of its S line. However, last year's Galaxy S6, S6 Edge and S6 Edge+ were completely on par with the Note 5, leaving a lot of fans somewhat disappointed.

This year, it seems like Samsung is going back to the roots of its Note line of devices. If rumors do prove true, the Galaxy Note 7 would once more be the phablet to beat, with extremely impressive specs and performance that could rarely be challenged.
