Billy Currington Charged, Indicted for Threats and Abuse of an Older Person
Country star Billy Currington was indicted earlier today for terroristic threats and abuse of an older person.
The charges stem from an altercation that happened on April 15 near Tybee Island, Ga., according to the Savannah Morning News. Charles Harvey Ferrelle, a 70-year-old boat captain, was transporting two customers past 159 San Marco Drive when Currington began to shout at him.
When Ferrelle passed by Currington again, Currington got in his own boat and followed him to another dock where he allegedly threatened Ferrelle, according to Marine Patrol Officer Daniel Walker.
TMZ states that Currington allegedly threatened to "f*** [Ferrelle] up" and said he would kill him.
According to TMZ, the singer was angry that Ferrelle had passed so close to his dock.
The incident was exacerbated by the fact that Ferrelle is over the age of 65, meaning that Currington was also hit with a charge of abuse of an older person due to causing mental anguish, according to the Athens Banner-Herald.
The country singer tweeted about the situation stating, "hey guys, I wanted to thank everyone for the huge amount of support that I have received already. Unfortunately, I can't comment on this situation as this is an ongoing legal matter. It means a lot to me to have your support during this time."
According to the Athens Banner-Herald. Currington was indicted on the charges by the Chatham County Grand Jury.
