Zooey Deschanel has received an apology from the company who accidently used her name in a caption when identifying Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev.

The New Girl star made headlines when she further retweeted a picture comedian Joel McHale retweeted from radio show producer Peter Ogburn, according to E!.

""Whoa! Epic closed captioning FAIL! "@joelmchale: Oh my RT @peterogburn: pic.twitter.com/F3sbpmq9WO," tweeted Deschanel.

The photo shows a Fox news station with a closed caption text that reads "marathon bombing, he is 19-year-old Zooey Deschanel."

The awkward caption was found at Fox news channel KDFW in Dallas-Fort Worth with captioning provided by Caption Solutions, reports the Daily News.

According to the Associated Press, company president Kala J. Patterson released a statement yesterday stating that the company wishes to "sincerely apologize for this error."

The star's tweet has received 12,000 retweets and 6,764 favorites, making it a highly publicized flub by the company. Had their employee accidently typed in any inconspicuous name the mistake probably would have gone mostly unnoticed.

While the 33-year-old actress seemingly laughed off the mistake, considering she is female and not 19, the same can not be said for other misidentification mistakes made by the media in regards to the investigation, such as the erroneous photo published by the New York Post.
