The online gaming world for the younger demographic is dominated by two very prominent sandbox-style games, Minecraft and Roblox. While both games are extremely popular, especially among younger players, both titles have notable pros and cons that make them better than the other.

So how do these two game stack up against each other? Let's find out.

Minecraft vs. Roblox - What's What

While these two massively popular games might have some very notable visual similarities, the nature of the gameplay between them is actually pretty different. Minecraft really is all about creating, as the game focuses a lot on exploration and building things from scratch. Roblox, on the other hand, is mainly a game-creation engine whose main draw is its capability to allow users to create their own games while enjoying the creations of other players.

Minecraft vs. Roblox - The Pros

Both of these sandbox-style games have notable pros. Being a creation engine, Minecraft excels really well in the building aspect. What's even better is the fact that there are numerous mods available for players, and most of them are really fun. This, coupled with a pretty nifty Survival Mode and a fun Multiplayer Mode, makes Minecraft a very well-rounded game.

Roblox, on the other hand, offers more choices to players since Minecraft limits players' creations to cubes. Sizes of blocks in Roblox are also fully customizable, allowing players to create structures that are true to their liking. Apart from this, Roblox supports a very wide range of gameplay styles, allowing players to experience different types of games even without mods.

Minecraft vs. Roblox - The Cons

Minecraft players have long called out the game's developer, Mojang, for the game's rather high price. At $26.95 for the PC and Mac and more than $5.00 for mobile devices, the world-building game is not cheap by any means.

With Roblox's freemium package, many would believe that the game is actually a lot cheaper to play than Minecraft. However, while Roblox is technically free to play, accessing the game's features require a monthly subscription fee. Thus, the costs of playing Roblox after a few months would far exceed that of Minecraft's.
