Lindsay Lohan's father Michael wants to call a truce in his feud with his ex-wife Dina for the sake of their eldest child.

Michael told RadarOnline that he recently paid back child support he owed his ex-wife for the care of the youngest children, which Dina previously cited as one of the reasons why she would not participate in suggested family therapy at the Betty Ford Center where Lindsay is staying.

Lindsay entered the facility on May 3.

Michael said that he hoped his act would allow Dina to change her mind about the group therapy. He admitted that he did not pay the owed money in the past because he was angry with her.

"I now want to admit that I was wrong for doing it and have made things right," he said. "I feel by doing this it will open doors for a better relationship and healing for the family."

Michael said he made a check out to Dina in the amount of $30,400. He felt that being on better terms with his ex-wife would help the entire family, and hee especially wanted the gesture to have a meaningful impact on the Mean Girls actress.

Michael also shared that he wanted to help Lindsay transfer to a different rehab facility. He wanted her to continue her treatment at Lukens Institute in Florida because he feels that Lukens would provide more privacy and structure for the actress.

"It's not 12-Step, it gives six hours of psycho therapy and its success rate is higher than any place I have experienced," Michael said.

Michael's change of heart toward his ex-wife is a reversal from the opinions he had about her as of May 5. He reacted with anger after Lindsay gave an interview to Piers Morgan before her latest stint in rehab. During the exchange, Lindsay said that rehab was pointless and held her father responsible for some of her hardships.

Michael believes that Dina told Lindsay what to say, and that the mother was a bad influence on the actress.

"Not only is she the root of all the problems but she is the root of all evil in our family," Michael said.
