Fresh off the success of the Zach Braff and Veronica Mars Kickstarter campaigns, Melissa Joan Hart tried to find her own success through the website, but users failed to deliver.

The actress explained on her campaign page that the project would be a romantic comedy called Darci's Walk of Shame, with a goal of raising $2 million. The synopsis for the film reads: "An impulsive act has Darci face enormous hurdles to get back to her sister's wedding & avoid her family witness her first walk of shame."

After the launching on April 11th, the campaign failed to generate anywhere near their intended goal, raising only $51,605 by the time Hart shut it down on Monday, May 13th.

Though the project has 2,365 likes on Facebook, it seems there wasn't enough public interest to take the next step and fund it.

The project was intended to have an end date for funding on May 26th, but with only 315 backers, it would not have realistically made enough money by that date.

Hart, famous for her television roles as the lead characters in Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Clarissa Explains it All and her newest show, Melissa and Joey has not had similar success in the film industry. Her last leading role in film was in the 1999 teen comedy Drive Me Crazy.

The actress spoke of this gap on the campaign page, saying: "I know it seems like a leap of faith but I am asking you to do what Hollywood won't, and that is to take a chance on me as the lead of a romantic comedy film."

Hart has not made any type of public announcement about shutting down the campaign, making no mention of it on her Twitter page or her Facebook page.
