Actress Shelley Duvall has resurfaced in a new Dr. Phil interview, in which she describes her mental illness.

Duvall, famous for her starring roles in The Shining and Popeye as well as a slew of critically acclaimed films from the '70s and '80s, is the focus of a new Dr. Phil segment. The actress, who retired from acting in 2002, has been quietly living in Blanco, Texas, but has now reached out to Dr. Phil McGraw to help treat her illness.

A new trailer for the interview has been released featuring Duvall, now 67, speaking about how she is "very sick. I need help."

Duvall tells McGraw, "I loved Robin Williams. I don't think he's dead," to which McGraw asks, "Where do you think he is?" The actress responds, "Shape-shifting," and adds that she can "half" see him.

The interview also features Duvall saying, "The man who threatened me is the Sheriff of Nottingham" and "I think there's a whirring disk inside me," lifting up a leg to show McGraw.

The Duvall interview is set to air on Dr. Phil Friday, Nov. 18.

Duvall became the subject of tabloid fodder in 2009 when the National Enquirer did an exposé on her life in Texas. Various locals reportedly told the tabloid mag that she wandered around town, often lost in her thoughts.

"Shelley wanders around town by herself, looking disheveled, strange and, to be honest, totally crazy. She mutters to herself and talks about aliens living in her body," a resident told the magazine.

Meanwhile, McGraw's interview with Duvall has sparked huge criticism. Vivian Kubrick, the daughter of Stanley Kubrick, who directed Duvall in The Shining, posted a long letter to McGraw on Twitter, voicing her concerns:

"You are putting Shelly Duvall 'on show' while she is suffering from a pitiable state of ill health. Unquestionably, this is purely a form of lurid and exploitive entertainment - it's appallingly cruel," she wrote.
