Justin Bieber will be appearing on tomorrow night's 2016 American Music Awards, but he won't be taking the stage in Los Angeles. Instead, he will be seen only via satellite due to his hectic Purpose World Tour schedule.

On Sunday, Nov. 20, Bieber will be performing at the Unipol Arena in Casalecchio di Reno, but after his show, he will be seen at the awards show, which will be hosted by Gigi Hadid at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, Calif.

Earlier this week, the Daily Mail confirmed that Bieber would not only be seen during the show but also revealed that he was listed as a performer at the event.

"The long-distance appearance from the 'Boyfriend' singer will spare the Biebs the awkwardness of a potential backstage run-in with ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez at the Microsoft Theater, the Los Angeles venue the show will be held from," the outlet explained.

Days prior, Hollywood Life revealed that Selena Gomez was thrilled that her upcoming return to the spotlight wouldn't be tainted by an awkward confrontation with her ex-boyfriend.

“Selena [Gomez] wants her first appearance back in front of her fans to be special and so if she does decide to do the appearance at the AMAs, she will want to do it big with perhaps a dazzling performance or a major announcement,” a source told the outlet.

“Selena Gomez is relieved that Justin has tour dates on the night of the AMAs… With Justin unlikely to make an appearance at the show there is less stress surrounding the event for Selena," the source continued. "Even though Selena will always love Justin, it does make things easier for her knowing her ex-boyfriend will likely not be there.”
